Conference Support Funds
This year's conference is offering two different funds to help defray the costs of conference attendence.

As in recent years, we are offering scholarships through the Solidarity Fund to increase the racial & ethnic diversity of folks in attendance.

We are also offering scholarships through the Conference Assistance Fund for
general support for low-income attendees.

If you want to apply for one of these funds, first mark "Need Scholarship" on your registration form (see above).  Then download the Conference Funds Request form as a Word doc, PDF file, or text document.  Mark the fund you are applying for and fill out the rest of the form.

Requests must be RECEIVED no later than Friday, June 30 to ensure consideration. Recipients will be announced the following week.

Volunteer at the Conference (WORT Personnel only)
Current WORT volunteers can get a reduced rate on conference registration by volunteering with one or more of the many conference support tasks that need to be done.  Volunteer shifts are just 3-4 hours each.

If you sign up for one or more volunteer shifts, your registration fee is just $50.  If you volunteer and opt for no meals, registration is $25.

You get the same rates if you put up someone from out of town in your home.

Click HERE to see the list of volunteer needs and to sign up for one or more shifts.

To claim the discount, on your registration form, mark that you're paying the full conference registration rate, but indicate that that amount is only $50 or $25.

What to bring with you to the Conference
So you're coming to GRC-11. That's great!  Before you board that plane/car/train/mule to travel to Madison, be sure you pack some or all of the following:

-- AUDIO PIECES of any length. Hey, this is a *radio* conference, after all.  We've got a room dedicated to peer audio listening sessions throughout the conference. We'll provide the equipment, but otherwise, sessions will be very do-it-yourself in terms of scheduling. Bring your best stuff and play it for your friends and comrades from other grassroots stations. CD format is probably best, but we'll also try to have facilities for MP3, WAV, and Casette tape.

-- B
umperstickers, program guides, and station promotional materials. We'll have a free table for you to leave stuff for others' perusal.

-- Station newsletters - we have a workshop scheduled on this topic, and would love to have a stack of examples from each station in attendance.  Bring at least enough for the newsletters session (30ish), or for the entire conference-going bunch (150ish).

-- Direct mail pieces - we also have a workshop scheduled on this topic.  Again, bring at least enough for the session attendees (30ish).

-- Station research, surveys, listener studies.  There's a workshop dedicated to discussing Listener Feedback, Ascertainment and Qualitative Research.  Bring plenty of copies, and if you're going to the workshop, be ready to talk about your experiences.

-- Station bylaws, board & staff policies, volunteer handbooks, mission statements and rules of any kind.  Bring a whole stack -- we can use them in the Board and Policy sessions and leave the extras out for others to bring home as well.

-- Clothes, toiletries, walking around money, etc, etc, etc...

-- A sunny disposition
